Questions for school leaders and SLT

What training can my school book?

Foundations training. ANCHOR Inclusion certification for the whole school (CPD). ANCHOR Inclusion parent training. ANCHOR Activity Provider Training.

What does whole-school SEND training cost?

The 12-week cohort is £3,000 for up to 25 staff or £3,500 for 26 to 35. The two-hour Foundations introduction is £300, credited towards full training if your school indicates within 28 days after Foundations that it wishes to progress. A tailored proposal confirms inclusions, dates and the final price.

Who should attend: teachers, TAs or the whole staff team?

Consider the adults children meet across the day: teachers, teaching assistants, SENCOs, pastoral staff, lunchtime supervisors and wraparound or activity staff. Shared learning is intended to support more consistent responses across roles, with responsibilities still defined by the school.

How much protected staff time is needed each week?

Allow 45 hours across 12 weeks, averaging 3 hours 45 minutes weekly. Four shared webinar hours and a 15-minute small-group competency conversation must be diarised. Agree protected time and access to suitable devices before commissioning; the remaining learning is flexible within cohort deadlines.

Which school budgets could fund the training?

For 2027 planning, start with your Inclusive Mainstream Fund allocation, core school budget and relevant CPD, staff-development, inclusion, pastoral or school-improvement allocations. Trust or cluster budgets can support shared training. Depending on the pupils and purpose, pupil premium, Virtual School funding or a locally commissioned SEND programme may also be relevant. These are routes to explore with your business manager, rather than separate grants available to every school. We can help you set out the training cost, intended benefits and review plan for your funding decision. Use the conditions for the year in which you spend; 2026–27 guidance does not confirm every 2027–28 allocation.

DfE: pupil premium guidance

Could the Inclusive Mainstream Fund support ANCHOR training in 2027?

The Inclusive Mainstream Fund is available to eligible mainstream schools in England from 2026–27. Schools can consider inclusion training where its activities and supporting evidence meet the fund’s conditions and their identified priorities. Record the rationale, cost and intended outcomes in your inclusion strategy. The fund supports additional evidence-informed inclusion activity, rather than general running costs or subsidising pre-existing activity. ANCHOR is not a government-approved funding provider; the school assesses the proposal against the grant conditions. Check the guidance applicable to your spending year.

DfE: Inclusive Mainstream Fund conditions

Can we use core funding, our notional SEN budget or pooled trust funding?

Ask your finance lead to assess the full training and app package against core revenue, staff-development and inclusion priorities. The notional SEN budget forms part of core school funding; it is not an additional grant. Trusts, federations and school partnerships may also consider a shared cohort and suitable pooled resources. Agree each school’s benefit, staff places, licence scope and financial governance before commissioning.

DfE: core funding and pooling within the IMF conditions

Could pupil premium or Virtual School funding contribute?

Pupil premium can support professional development where it addresses disadvantaged pupils’ needs and meets the evidence-informed menu of approaches. It can benefit a wider staff team and other pupils too. For looked-after children, discuss relevant support with the Virtual School Head and relate it to personal education plan outcomes. Service pupil premium is a separate possibility only where the work addresses eligible service children’s pastoral or educational needs. The purpose of the expenditure determines the fit.

DfE: pupil premium, Virtual Schools and service pupil premium

What other local or specialist budgets should we explore?

Ask your local authority or trust about commissioned SEND workforce development, inclusion partnerships, early-help programmes and locally available grants. Nursery settings can ask their early-years team whether local SEN inclusion funding permits the proposed staff development. A PTA, charitable funder or employer may also choose to sponsor training within its own rules. Pupil-specific high-needs funding, PE and sport premium, capital grants and apprenticeship funding each have distinct restrictions: include them only if the relevant funder expressly confirms that the particular expenditure qualifies. Availability varies by area, setting and funding year.

Will ANCHOR meet new government SEND requirements for us?

No single course establishes statutory compliance. ANCHOR aims to support earlier, more consistent inclusive practice alongside your duties, policies and the SEND Code of Practice. Check enacted requirements and implementation dates separately from proposed reforms. We do not claim government approval, mandatory-provider status or a guaranteed inspection outcome.

Department for Education: SEND Code of Practice

What difference should a school expect?

ANCHOR training aims to strengthen shared understanding, staff confidence and consistent SEND practice. Schools agree implementation priorities and review progress in their own setting.

How can we evaluate value without overstating impact?

Agree a baseline and review points for participation, staff confidence, learning completion and implementation. Include pupil and family views where appropriate. Consider changes in context and other support rather than attributing every improvement to training. Report response counts and limitations, not only favourable percentages.

Questions for SENCOs: early help and the school app

How can ANCHOR support earlier help rather than only responding after an incident?

The programme aims to help adults notice barriers and coordinate appropriate support before difficulties escalate. It complements your existing graduated approach, safeguarding routes and professional judgement. The public website explains the purpose without revealing the framework’s protected methods.

Where can we explore the app before booking?

A public overview of what the app does for a school is on the ANCHOR app page. The full private app guide and demo appointment open to school accounts once the school has completed Foundations. Live accounts and payments are not yet open. Join the priority list and we confirm places in enrolment order.

Is the app included in the £600 individual course or £300 Foundations session?

No. App access is included only with the signed full school-training contract for the agreed licence period. Foundations, individual certification and independent practitioner registration do not include an app licence.

What happens to our school app licence the following year?

Full school certification includes 12 months of app access from the cohort start date. After that period, choose a further full training cohort for another group of staff, including a new 12-month licence from that cohort’s start date, or renew the school app from £750 per year. The final price is tailored to the school and depends on user numbers, selected functionality and the criteria stated in the renewal quotation. Detailed renewal options are discussed privately near the end of the included access period.

When is app renewal invoiced and when must we pay?

The annual renewal invoice is issued 14 days before the current licence expires and is payable within 28 days of issue. Access continues during that payment window, including the 14 days after expiry, so timely payment keeps use uninterrupted. Your renewal notice sets out the fee, payment deadline and what happens if payment remains outstanding.

Will ANCHOR integrate with our school MIS?

MIS integration arrives in 2028. Until then no integration should be assumed. Your school's proposal identifies any supported connection, subject to provider permissions and testing.

Does the app replace safeguarding records, the MIS or EHCP documentation?

No. Schools retain their official records and existing statutory processes. Professional decisions remain with authorised staff. The app can produce a draft SEN support plan or an EHCP evidence summary from what the school has already logged, for authorised staff to review and adopt in the school's own records.

Is a DPIA required before our school uses the app?

Yes. ANCHOR requires a completed, signed-off school-specific DPIA and agreed safeguards before live use in every school. The private overview explains onboarding and links to ICO guidance.

Who can see school or pupil information?

Access will be limited to authorised roles and agreed purposes. Attending training does not grant access to every school record. The school’s onboarding documentation confirms permissions and responsibilities.

Will the course reveal the framework and app publicly?

No. Public FAQs explain benefits, time commitments, standards and boundaries. Teaching sequences, templates, assessment rubrics, detailed app functionality and implementation methods remain available only under the appropriate authorised access and licence.

Questions for staff taking the training

What will be expected of me during the course?

Protect regular study time, complete weekly learning and anonymised practice work, attend scheduled live components and complete the required assessments. Ask for support early and work within your current role. Do not submit children’s names or identifying case details.

What do I receive if I complete the programme?

Titles are protected: see Professional standards.

Can I apply to the public register after school-funded training?

Yes. School-funded graduates who take ANCHOR-provided supervision can use that route at the special price of £450, payable through PayPal in two monthly instalments of £225 when payments open. The supervised route requires six one-hour observations across six different families, one session per family. Experience, references, required learning and current checks must be satisfied before full approval and listing. The package includes public register listing after approval and professional-indemnity insurance for eligible, agreed ANCHOR work, subject to the insurer’s policy terms and confirmation of cover before practice begins. The first year of registered membership is free; annual membership renewal is £399 from year two. The £450 supervised-route price is a separate school-graduate offer, not the annual membership fee. Your written offer confirms payment dates and who pays.

Could I offer support after school, at weekends or in holidays?

Yes. Once the additional register pathway and checks are complete, your expertise can support families beyond the school day through suitable SEND support, holiday work and agreed wraparound provision. Build a schedule around your existing role, choose your registered rate and let paid bookings contribute towards your training investment. Check employer permission, conflicts of interest and insurance. Once you accept a block, be consistent and reliable throughout, with prompt communication if circumstances change. Local opportunities depend on family demand and suitability.

What if I need adjustments or cannot meet a deadline?

Contact ANCHOR early about reasonable adjustments and the extension process. The programme has scheduled live components and assessment requirements, so a missed session may need an agreed alternative. Evidence and medical details should use a restricted route, not general school or course discussions.

Can I share the materials with colleagues who are not enrolled?

Only as expressly allowed by the school’s licence. Do not copy the course, distribute worksheets or recordings, expose app workflows or deliver ANCHOR-branded training without permission. Colleagues who need the full programme should be included in the agreed cohort.
