Practitioner Code of Conduct
Respect and professional boundaries
Respect children’s dignity, agency and communication preferences. Work within competence, agreed scope, insurance and safeguarding responsibilities. Practitioners support regulation, sensory inclusion, routines, social navigation and transitions. They adapt adult responses and environments, work alongside existing plans, explain observations in plain language and refer needs outside their competence.
Scope of practice
ANCHOR practice does not include diagnosis, therapy, counselling, medication advice, restraint, statutory assessment advice or formal EHCP evidence. It does not replace a SENCO or a clinical professional.
Checks and professional development
Maintain required checks, operational insurance and training. Registered practitioners must maintain annual membership, attend mandatory continuing professional development and remain subject to continuing suitability review. Disclose relevant suitability changes promptly. Describe qualifications and experience accurately.
Consent and safer practice
Work requires appropriate parental authority and attention to the child’s wishes. Trainees never work alone with a child; a responsible parent, carer or school staff member remains present. Children can decline a session or observation without being penalised.
Confidentiality and learning records
Protect personal information and keep platform communication adult-to-adult. Practitioner learning, supervision, family sessions and observations are not recorded. Do not include child names, dates of birth, schools or diagnoses in training records or feedback material. Written information needs secure handling and retention rules. Follow the appropriate safeguarding route for concerns.
Titles and permission to teach
Use professional titles and badges only as permitted by the Terms and Conditions and confirmed registration status. Practitioner certification does not authorise delivery of ANCHOR training or parent workshops. Separate facilitator status and written permission are required.
